I am helping backstage with costumes for a small community theatre production. The available scarves share the same depth but differ between rose and muted terracotta. Under the rehearsal lamps the rust scarf gives the actor a healthy warmth. Near the entrance windows that same scarf creates a strong orange shadow. The pinker scarf appears quiet during rehearsal and much cleaner in natural light. We need to work with these two pieces and cannot modify their fabric. For a fair check I photographed each option using the same manual white balance. The visual record is clear but the proper reference light is still uncertain.
